  • Which AI service does LUH recommend?

If you would like to use an AI service or are explicitly supposed to work with one, for example  in the context of courses, LUH currently recommends LUHKI. LUHKI is an AI service based on ChatGPT for students and employees of LUH (access via WebSSO). Data is transferred to OpenAI in compliance with data protection regulations and without reference to the respective user account.

  • What do I need to be aware of when using AI during my studies?

Important: Clarify with your lecturers at an early stage how you can use AI tools for coursework or assessments and what needs to be taken into account. At LUH, there are in some cases individually regulated procedures in subjects and courses. It is the responsibility of students to ensure the lawful, responsible and transparent use – or non-use – of AI tools and to inform themselves.

Thinking about the sustainability of text-generating AI tools and a fundamentally critical attitude towards AI-generated content are of central importance. The use of AI tools is an important skill for the future and the use of AI tools can be a valuable support in your studies – but it is no substitute for your own thinking skills. Tips for the application

  • Always check AI-generated results against reliable sources to verify accuracy and identify erroneous information.

  • Provide comprehensive contextual information with questions or instructions and ask multiple follow-up questions to refine answers.

  • Use roles in your prompts, such as "I am an undergraduate student studying for a first-semester calculus exam." or "I am eight years old and would like the following concept explained in simple terms."

  • Give examples of the type of answers you want.

  • Do not share sensitive personal data such as financial details or passwords with AI tools. Avoid entering your own or others' intellectual property, such as patents, trademarks, designs, confidential information or content created by others into any AI tool.

Key questions for the application

  • How can you ensure that you maintain good academic practice?

  • How can generative AI tools support your active learning?

  • How can generative AI tools support you to develop your own academic skills?

  • How can you manage the risk of false information, "hallucinations" and bias?

  • How (and when) can you refer back to AI results (as different generative AI tools produce different results and the same tool can produce different results with the same prompts)? How can you document these results transparently?
